If the thought of making a homemade lip balm or a homemade beauty product is overwhelming to you, then read on!   Because I am about to give you a super easy DIY recipe that you can whip up right now and be using  five minutes from now :) And the very best part that just tickles me pink?!!!  This beauty DIY, cost me about $2.50 to make, including the jar!!!!   Read on my frugal friend. Tea Time, Me Time

Everyday, from the moment I wake, I look forward to 3pm.  By 3, my chores are done, the kids have hopefully learned a thing or two, we've ran our errands and played outside-- and I'm flippin exhausted. In Australia and England, they refer to 3 o clock as "Tea Time" whether they drink tea, or coffee, or what the heck ever.  It's like a THING there, and I think it should be a thing everywhere. It's such a refreshing hour for me.  It's different than any other break I take during the day.  It both unwinds and grounds me, all at once. I try to always have a special coffee.  Special basically means that I top it with a bit of cool whip, and sprinkle cocoa and cinnamon on the top.  It looks pretty, and tastes special and is always successful in boosting my spirits. Every day, my tea time, is a long moment, to pull myself together.  To re-form the plan.  What went well and what didn't....how I wish I would have responded vs ...

DIY Healthy Beauty: How to color your hair naturally

Today, I'm going to share how to color your hair naturally, with products that you can find in your pantry. Sounds pretty cool, huh?! There is a catch.... The catch is, that you can't have the best of both worlds.  If you are looking to change your hair drastically, (and damage it) in a few hours, then these tricks aren't for you.  BUT, if you want to lighten or darken your hair, with safe ingredients that are not damaging and are actually GOOD for your hair .... Then read on :) 1. Honey and cidnnamon to lighten hair How it works: It turns out that there is a bit of hydrogen peroxide in honey, and the cinnamon activates it. Who knew!  So amazing!   I personally used this method and left it in over night, 2 nights in a row.  It's a bit sticky--but totally worth it.  Just wrap your head with a plastic bag and sleep on a towel. I'm sure you've made greater sacrifices in the name of beauty.  ;)  You w...

Jesus knows

I woke up early today.  My eyes shot open at 5:23 on the dot. I couldn't go back to sleep...so I just got up. I've been tired lately...feeling in a bit of a funk. Not for any specific reason, but sometimes, life is just tiring. Sometiems, I don't know what I need or why I feel like I do, but Jesus knows. He  knew I needed to work some stuff out. He knows that I sit down to read my Bible and get easily distracted. That I constantly start prayers that I never finish.  He knows that lately, I've taken time for a lot of things... but not really for Him. So he woke me up early today. I need Jesus.  Not because He said I did, although He's right.  Not even so I don't go to hell.  But because... He knows.  He knows my heart and all my fears. My shortcomings and struggles.  He knows the darkness that can creep up inside me.  And He knows how to fix it all. He is the great physician. In Mark 2, verse 15, the Bible says And it ca...

Mama's heart: Love and Discipline

"Train a child up in the way he should go: and when he is old, he shall not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 My little valentine turned 10 a few days ago...I can't believe it really.  Her brother will be 8 next month, and then in May our oldest daughter will be 13.  The Bean is still little at least...I take comfort in that. I remember looking at Kylie when she was tiny and thinking out how the world was going to come to an end, or I would break her.... school age seemed impossible.  That's how it felt for the longest time. For a bit, it was only her. I was new at the mommy gig.  Nick was new at being someone's dad.... she was new to being a kid.  There was no one to show her the ropes...and while she was tiny, it seemed the milestones were all so far away. But once she turned 1, time quickly flew by. 3 months before her 3rd birthday, her sister came along, and then 2 years later, a brother...and then 4 years after that, another sister. 4 kids ...

Granddad, Politics, & People

Earlier this week, on Tuesday in fact,  the world's oldest aquarium fish died. His name was Granddad. My little news dinger notification on my phone went off and I felt that wave of dread wash over me (politics have really been getting to me lately) but then I saw the fish... And I read the headline "Grandad, the world's oldest aquarium fish dies"  Such a peace washed over me, and then I felt guilty for feeling peace about an old fish dying, so I clicked the article. Granddad, is an Australian lungfish.  He has lived at Shedd's Aquarium in Chicago for over 80 years. He was picked up back in 1933 in the Pacific ocean, and has resided at the aquarium since.  You can read the full article on Fox News here . And you should. It's a breath of fresh air, and I felt something very therapeutic in reading about something mundane and impersonal, yet worthy of mention.  Lately.... women's rights, immigration bans....long time friends, and even family...

Mom-ing Advice: Go to the park

You know how it is when you're a mom.  Or maybe you don't. Allow me to paint a picture. You become a mom. Okay. And you fall totally and completely in love with your new bundle. You cherish the days that quickly pass on.  You write down all the firsts, plus anything else that is even remotely cute (to you)  You light up inside with delight when your little bundle smiles up at you, and oh my goodness, the feeling when you hear their first giggles.... and how you try to keep drawing those giggles out, because it truly is the best sound you've ever heard... like music that plays to your soul. Even when they poop on you, cry at the top of their lungs, and refuse to sleep at night-- you're just filled with so much love, and there is nothing you wouldn't do, for this bundle. Fast forward to a few years later...... And then they learn to talk and scream "NO!"  Stick their tongues out.  Run away from you when it's time to brush the...
