Two Easy 4th Of July Treats!

Happy 4th y'all! It is America's 241st Birthday!
Since the 4th is on a Tuesday this year, a lot of folks have already watched fireworks shows, and had a fun-filled festive weekend.

So now what?
Make some goodies of course!

If you read my post "All About Being A Millennial Mom!!!!!!!"  You know it's your job to do a cool craft or make some awesome festive food for your little shitlins.

Let me be your guide!

Although my goodies aesthetic quality is sorely lacking...we still had fun making these treats, and I'm sure a cooler mom can do much better than I did.. Apparently, I'm #NotYourAverageMillennialMom, and am just not quite Pinterest Worthy.  That's okay with me 😄

Lets get started! First up...

Red,White, and Blue Beverages!

All you need is:
Cranberry Juice or Fruit Punch ( I used Sunny D )
Some Sprite or 7 up ( or perhaps some coconut rum or wine for mom 😜)
Blue Gatorade ( I think light blue would have worked better)

The concept behind this whole drink, is that the colors are supposed to sit on top of each other, separated. That didn't work out for me, and I think it's because I just suck at this sort of thing. I should have poured slower... had more patience, and perhaps used cranberry juice like the damn recipe called for. Anywho... it was fun to make, and the kids thought it looked like an Optimus Prime slushie from sonic, which I've been too cheap to buy for them. ☺ So who's the winner here? (ME)

Step 1: Fill 1/4 of the glass with ice cubes
Step 2: Fill 2/3 of the glass with your red liquid
Step 3: Add a few more ice cubes, and very slowly, add the clear liquid
Step 4: More ice cubes, slow-as-you-can, pour in the blue liquid....and viola!
Hopefully yours turned out Red, White, and Blue! If not, it still tastes delicious; pat yourself on the back.

Now, for the next treat!

I suggest making this tonight...on the 3rd, and then you will have a wonderful sugary, gluten filled- with-a-side-of -raw-fruit filled breakfast ready to go for your kiddo tomorrow on the 4th!

Red, White, and Blue Shortcakes

What you need:
Shortcakes... usually sold next to the strawberries, or in the bakery section
Cool Whip
Blueberries
Strawberries

This is super easy... mine is kinda thrown together--but still tastes great--judge if you must 😊

Step 1: Smear the cool whip all over the shortcakes. If you want to make a flag...then go ahead and lay it on thick and spread it over all of them.
Step 2: Cut strawberries to resemble a line (stripes)...and assemble them from the bottom, working your way up.
Step 3: At the top left corner, make a square out of the blueberries (stars)
Step 4: Starting at the edge of your blueberry square, make one more stripe with the strawberries.
OR take the easy route, and just toss strawberries and blueberries on top of the cool whipped shortcakes. Either way works ;)

And that's it! Super easy...and super yummy!

Happy 4th y'all!

That Time My 9 Year Old Gave Me The Bird

An old Cherokee Indian, teaching his grandson about life...“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.  “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”   He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.  The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”   The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” A few months ago, I told my son (9) to go take out the trash. He didn't do it. In fact, almost every time I asked him to do it, he would "forget." When I found him outside, I said: "Hey, I told you to take out the trash." He got a bad attitude. Rolle...

Hey...Let's Catch Up

Hey guys.... I know I've been somewhat absent lately, and so, I want to take some time to catch up! Before I get into it all though, I want to say thank you to everyone who reads my blog... When I first started Crazies & Daisies, I did it as a hobby and for an outlet... I never saw it going anywhere and put off starting it for years because of the fear of  judgement... and failure...and more judgement  Once it took off though, I started letting you guys in more and more, and you kept on reading. Y'all are my inspiration, and my motivation to keep writing.  So Thank You! Now for the catching up... this is gonna be deep... I don't do shallow, I suck at sugar coating stuff, and most of all, I feel it is almost a calling of mine-- to be real with people. To let them in on my messy, unfiltered, unedited life. So here goes... Life has been full of highs and lows for the past several months. One big c...
