This fall, I'm feeling particularly festive. We kicked off November by getting out the good ole dry erase board and writing out some crafts and things we wanted to do during the holiday season. I didn't have a ton of supplies on hand, but I've become a bad mama jama (in a good way) at making the most out of construction paper, glue, and random crap lying around the house.
With it only being a few days before Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share this fun, thought provoking, craft that the whole family can be involved in.
Something to use as the base for the turkey. We used an old candle jar...didn't even dig out the old wax! Brown wax = woodsy feel.
Construction Paper
Hot Glue Gun
Something to write with
Start by cutting the feathers out.
Give everyone who is present feathers, including parents, grandparents, etc.
While everyone is writing what they're thankful for, you can go ahead and make the body by cutting out one large round circle, and one small round circle. You'll also need a nose and eyes.
Glue the body and head on the jar or whatever you're using, followed by the feathers of thankfulness.
In the opening of the jar, leave blank feathers for people to continue to write what they're thankful for as the month progresses and poke back in the middle.
On Thanksgiving, or on the very last day of the month, take some time to reflect on what each person in your family is thankful for.
A fun craft, with minimal clean up that the whole family can enjoy and participate in! Plus, it makes a super cute fall decoration. If you have a laminator, it would be a great idea to run the feathers and body parts through so that it will hold up better and can last through the years.
Happy Thanksgiving!
