The Struggles of The Tooth Fairy

Okay fellow moms, a.k.a.: Tooth Fairies, Santa Clauses, Easter Bunnies, and childhood magical character fibbers.....  I know I can't be alone.  Lately, I've really been sucking it up, at being The Tooth Fairy. My two middles have been losing teeth like crazy, and I just can't seem to get it together. I never have really had it together when it comes to this stuff, and I often find myself wondering why I lie to my kids about these magical beings that they'll be devastated to find out is all a BIG FAT LIE someday anyways. I was one of those kids that knew better when I was pretty young, but clung to it, until I was like 12, and my Mom was like "Laurel, that stuff isn't real."  And even though deep down I knew it, I wanted to believe...so that's why I keep this charade going.  #letthembelittle  Right? But I suck at it! Especially the tooth fairy gig.  The worst part, is that  my sweet little Li Li really ...

Snob Moms (and snobs in general) : I don't like you either

Okay, so I'm in a ranting phase. An everyone-else-is-offended-by-everything-and-I'm-offended-by-that phase .  An air my dirty laundry, let's be real phase! So.... here goes. I've spent a lot of my adult life, being snobbed... like, I thought that was over after high school, but I was mistaken. What gets me, is I just don't understand why ?   Like I know some people have more money or better cars.  I get that maybe you're higher class, but not always.  Sometimes, I might be the one with the shallow "upper hand."  So just what is up your ass, and do you need some help removing it? I went to school with a lot of snobs and was even welcomed into their group once. I quickly realized what they were all about though, and distanced myself. Since growing up...I've met many many many more. I've worked with a lot of girls like this too. I like waitressing.  So that's been the majority of my job(s) as an adult. ...

BIG FAT HUGE Gripey Rant..Just need to vent!

Social Media Overload: BEING PRESENT CHALLENGE

I'm just going to get straight to the point... How many of these moments do I miss? In my opinion, and experience.... social media is stealing away our lives. Our joy. Our time and efforts.  For a good while now, we have been texting, Facebooking, Snapping, and more-- at what cost though? I can remember the first time I sent a text message.  I didn't even really know if you could send a typed message through the air waves, but I had heard that people were doing it, and so-- yeah-- I thought I would too.  I was in Arkansas visiting my family, and my husband and I were fighting about something.  I don't remember what-- but I remember that I was around too many people to call him on the phone and scream at him, so instead, I did it through text message.  And although it took about 20 minutes to type out what I could have said in like 5, I felt empowered.  I could say what I wanted, from 600 miles away, and I didn't have to deal with what came bac...

Homeschool Encouragement and Resources

People are becoming more and more interested in the idea of schooling their kids from home, and I want to be an encourage-er in that! So, if you need advice or support or want to express all your worries, reach out to me!  I have been right where you are. I know it's scary at first and seems like it's going to be a lot, but it can truly be as much or as little as you make it. The first order of action:   Research homeschool laws, in your state. A great place to start is the Homeschool Legal Defense Association, or HSLDA.   Click this link to go there now. The site has state-by-state information, that will tell you what is required of you and the steps you will need to take in your state in order to homeschool legally, as well as other resources and encouragement. Next Stop... The library! Our library where we live now, is huge and awesome...but even when we lived in a very small town with a very small library,  it was a wonderful,...
